Wonderful Gifts in Memory of Ruth McLellan

The daughters of Ruth McLellan, a longtime member who served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years, presented a very generous gift to Peoples in her memory. The primary gift was to the Sunday School, including two adjustable height 60" diameter tables, 24 stackable children's chairs in varying sizes, and several rolling carts for teacher supplies.
A much needed portable sound system was also purchased with these funds, and was used for the first time during the mission dinner on 9/24!  In addition, these funds enabled the purchase of a beautiful flowering Hydrangea plant which has been placed in front of the Ellis Hall exterior wall that faces Broadway. A memorial plate with Ruth and Guy's names will be added to the plaque in Ellis Hall.

These items will be dedicated in worship soon, and know that Ruth would be so pleased that her legacy is being used to further the ministries of Peoples UMC, and particularly the children whom she loved so dearly.

Note from Art Tordoff: If you are passing by the Broadway side of Ellis Hall you will find a new and beautiful blue Hydrangea bush that has been planted there. This is a gift from the McLellan family in honor of Ruth McLellan who was a long time member of Peoples who in the past had served as a Sunday school teacher and at one time was the Superintendant of the Sunday school. Doreen, and Marlene of the Peoples Garden Club were responsible for the acquisition of the bush and placing it in this location of honor.

Note from Doreen Gay who has assisted the McLellan Family in making sure their purchases represented both Ruth and Guy McLellan:  Please stop by the Sunday School room and look at the beautiful tables and chairs and take the time to enjoy the beauty of the hydrangea and when you do think of the McLellan family as they grew in God's love and contributed so much to our church family.
