2014 PUMC Vacation Bible School
Following a
form developed by the Heifer Project the planning team led by Rosemary Herd and
Carol Bruneau with the able assistance of Betty Splettstoesser, Kimberly Rusli,
Chris Ward, Kathy Brann and Amy Wellington this year’s Vacation Bible school
got underway and was held from August 11-14 in and around Ellis Hall. God’s
presence in this world has been seen through the eyes of children in their
study of animals and their relationship to the Bible.
On Tuesday a
visit from Spark’s Ark brought the variety of creature life to Ellis Hall as
Josh, the keeper of the Ark for almost an hour kept the children and adults
enthralled with a wide variety of relatively small creatures that included a
Barn Owl, Dragon, Boa Constrictor, and Hedgehog. Other small creatures were
viewed and Josh fielded a number of questions from the children.
Using the
material from Heifer has given these young folks preliminary introductions to
what Heifer does in helping folks around the world. This introduction will
continue through the fall in the children’s Sunday school program.
Peoples has
had a long association with Heifer that dates back to the 1950s when live farm
animals were seen on the church lawn and creatures from Heifers to goats to
chickens have been sponsored for overseas delivery. Not to many years ago under
the leadership of Merrill Kaiser the church raised over $5000 in sponsoring an
“Ark”.
Church
members thank the leaders and supporters of this year’s Vacation Bible School.
