Those who attended were surprised to find free popcorn, lemonade, hot dogs, home baked beans and cotton candy to please their palates. Hard to believe, but people were ready for hot dogs by 9:20 in the morning!
The fair was part of the “40 Days of Community” project, a unique opportunity to share the love of God within and beyond our church community. It was a great way to work and fellowship with our church family, and to develop relationships with community organizations and individuals who may have wondered for years what Peoples United Methodist Church is all about. The event was a reminder of how many connections Peoples has had in the past with the Greater Portland community, and how God is calling us to continue reaching out with His grace to serve our neighbors, both near and far.
Folks are already talking about next year’s Community Awareness Fair, how it can be bigger and better and reach even more people. If you want to be part of it, or know of an organization that wasn’t included this year, contact the pastors, Rosemary, or Earle.
